due to a loophole in a german tax law hollywood has been swamped in money from Germany. Since the early 90s german funds and hedge funds have been paying billions to studios, not caring about the end product as long as they take their money, because even if the money flops the funds still safe on taxes. Lord of the rings for example has largely been financed by Germany, however many not so appealing movies have been as well and instead of somebody having his legs broken german investors basically laughed it off, because they can not lose.
